Financial Accountant

We are looking for a qualified accountant to join a friendly and fast paced working environment in one of the 4 national political parties in the UK. The party staff are based in the heart of Westminster, about a 10 minute walk from Westminster station. It suits a person who may have worked in general practice or the charity sector and is now looking to gain niche experience in political parties' compliance and accounting regulations.

The candidate is likely to be a qualified accountant with just a few years post qualification experience. She/ he would work with the Party Treasurer and the Finance Manager. She/ he will be resourceful and comfortable in a fast paced environment. The treasury department has the twofold functions: of a finance department with all the normal routines and responsibilities of a finance department, plus fulfilling the compliance tasks / reporting of a political party including compliance with the regulations for a registered political party.

The candidate would have good experience of Excel, and ideally have some working experience with Xero Accounting system, and experience with Access Dimensions Accounting software. The department's accounting system is being migrated from Xero to Access. The candidate would be immediately available to start work in a long-term role commencing initially with a 3 month interim assignment.
