An exciting and varied role as a Commercial Cost Accountant for a large Retail business operating nationally with a hub in Bedford.

Client Details

The client is a well-renowned Retail business with a growing market share, looking to deliver on critical projects vital for growth. Currently, there are in the midst of some exciting projects and are looking to on board a Commercial Cost Accountant to assist with reporting and production of budgets. They are engaged employer that look after their employees and are renowned for offering great career progression and internal opportunities for growth. With offices located in Bedford, they are easily accessible to anyone local or located in Milton Keynes, Luton or the Cambridge area as well as parts of North London.


The Key responsibilities for the role of Commercial Cost Accountant are:

  • Producing detailed budgeting and forecasting reports from a variety of income streams
  • Maintaining and improving accounting operations and controls
  • Ownership of the Budgeting and Forecasting reporting for division
  • Analysis and forecasting of budgets vs actuals
  • Analysis of Cash Flow alongside budget preparation
  • Working with other departments to provide KPI reports on a variety of in house function
  • Driving constant improvement process of ERP systems
  • Preparation of accounts to management level
  • Ownership of the Standard Costing Models
  • Responsible for liaising with external stakeholders for Stock and Inventory and reconciliation of pricing
  • Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
  • Preparation of reporting and evaluation on existing assets and acquisitions
  • Detailed business analysis of subsidiaries by profit centres
  • Ad-hoc duties as required by Line Manager


The Successful candidate for the role of Commercial Cost Accountant will be:

  • Part Qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) ideally a finalist
  • Previous experience in a similar role - ideally with a Retail background or comparatively similar
  • Proficiency in Excel is required - Financial Modelling skills required
  • Extensive knowledge of management accounts
  • Operational accounting knowledge
  • Proven track record of business partnering internally and externally
  • Strong Analytical skills with an eye for detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Able to multi-task
  • Team Player
