Redmill Consulting's client is currently looking for an Assistant Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for you to take responsibility for ensuring that all financial processes are completed accurately, on time and with appropriate level of control as well as being responsible for the production of monthly management reporting.

JOB

The job of Assistant Accountant will give you the opportunity to be involved in the following:
  • Lead a team to complete all monthly, quarterly and annual financial processes
  • Produce month end management reporting
  • Be the internal systems expert for the organisation's accounting package
  • Oversee the appropriate allocation of shared costs across the organisations reporting units
  • Manage the ongoing maintenance of the complex excel based fee income variance model to ensure accurate income recognition
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of all Balance Sheet Accounts and maintenance of the organisation's Fixed Asset Register
  • Overseeing the completion and submission of the organisation's quarterly VAT returns
  • Leading a team of two to ensure all Finance processes including reconciliations (bank, income variance, control account, Balance Sheet etc.)
  • Production of monthly and quarterly management reporting including commentary and analysis of variances to budget/reforecast
  • Maintaining the organisations General Ledger
  • Overseeing the year end run
  • Manage the ongoing maintenance of the complex excel based fee income variance model to ensure accurate income recognition
  • Assisting the Finance Manager to ensure that appropriate financial control processes are in place, and overseeing the implementation of these controls on a day to day basis
  • Assisting the Finance Manager in the ongoing optimisation of financial processes
  • Overseeing the maintenance of the organisation's Fixed Asset Register
  • Production of Aged Debtor Reporting
  • Overseeing allocation of shared costs across the organisation's 150+ reporting units
  • Overseeing the completion and submission of the organisation's quarterly VAT returns
  • Reporting and recording of all Grant and Trust funding
  • Will be the administrator for the organisation's online banking system and credit card scheme
  • Assisting in the delivery of budget and forecasting cycles where required
  • Assisting in the preparation of Annual Statutory Accounts, including providing supporting documentation for all audit schedules
  • Overseeing & taking an active role in the development of KPI's
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key non-financial staff
  • Assisting in the recruitment and selection of staff

YOU

As Assistant Accountant you will be skilled and/or qualified in the following:
  • HND Accounts and/or Association of Accounting Technician qualification
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • Experienced in supervising staff
  • Strong accounting systems competence
  • Advanced relevant (eg Excel) PC skills
  • Strong analytical and systems skills
  • Effective time-manager
  • Able to delegate effectively
