Boomtown Oil, LLC is seeking a controller who will oversee all day–to–day accounting operations, including handling all payables, receivables, JIB'ing, journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, tax payments, covenant checks, fulfillment of lender requirements and audit interfacing.

Boomtown is a private equity backed E&P company based in Houston, Texas. Boomtown works with Juniper Capital to lease and develop minerals in onshore resource plays across the US. Other than salary and bonus, every employee at Boomtown is further incentivized through equity ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting and monthly close process with help of a bookkeeper
  • Handle receipt of all revenues, distribute monthly royalties, pay all associated taxes
  • Run the invoice approval process and ensure timely payment to all vendors
  • Prepare all financials and fulfill all reporting requirements of capital provider and lender
  • JIB non–operating working interest partners
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and take care of all reconciles
  • Track AFEs vs Budget
  • Provide data and reports to auditors as requested
  • Work directly with CPA firm to prepare federal/state/local taxes
  • Flexibility to work in different roles as needed (up to 20% of candidate's time will be spent on non–accounting duties)

Skills Needed:

  • Upstream oil and gas experience
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills, particularly Excel (Hot Key use is a major plus)
  • Proficient in Quick Books
  • SherWare experience is a strong plus, but not required

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Business degree from an accredited four–year university or college
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience

Position Type:

This is a full–time position, and typical work hours are Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Extended hours are common.
