Job role
The incumbent will be responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting and will develop and maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements are presented when required.
* Accumulates and provide financial information and statements when required.
* Prepares on a timely manner monthly accounts which include accounts payables and receivables, profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, variance reports
* Analyse sales and profitability by sales department and prepare detailed financial reports and statements and assist in the preparation of Management discussion and analyses
* Analyse financial information to recommend efficiencies in the use of company resources
* Manage the operation of all accounting systems and records, including but not limited to: revenue, expenditures, fixed assets and depreciation, purchasing, inventory
* Manage the end of financial year stock taking
* Review all month-end and year-end accounting entries
* Checks and verifies that all statutory requirements are complied with
* Calculation of and timely preparation of:
1. Value Added Tax
2. Green Fund Levy
3. Business Levy
4. Corporation Tax
5. Reports for Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago and Central Statistical Office
6. International Credit Report Bureaus
* Liaises with Financial Institutions and ensures that all financial requests and obligations are timely met
* Maintains a debtor sub ledger for export sales
* Maintains a Creditors sub ledger for all foreign suppliers and manages the accompanying documentations
* Researches all queries of a financial nature and submits interim and yearly audit reports to the Auditors. This includes preparation for annual audits and ensure there's supporting documentation
* Follow all rules and regulations as stated by the company
* Perform other duties as required by any duly authorised personnel
* Professional Accounting qualification or first Degree in Accounting
* At least ten (10) years accounting experience, five (5) of which must be at a managerial level
* Strong understanding of accounting principles and guidelines (IFRS)
* Knowledge of government tax system
* MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Competent with a computerized Accounting software
* Strong leadership skills, ability to lead by example
* Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to interact with other business units and other members of the team in a professional and effective manner
* Strong organisational skills, reliable, autonomous and ability to prioritize multiple job requests
* Ability to observe and maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties
* Ability to function as part of the management team of the business, demonstrating the Company's values and taking ownership for contributing towards the execution of the Company's vision and strategies
