We are seeking an individual with the ability to compile cost estimates for our multi–media solutions Organizational and communication skills are a must! You must be able to work in a fast–paced environment and must possess highly proficient Microsoft excel skills with a strong grasp of other accounting software, preferably Sage 50 or Sage 100.

YOUR ROLE:

The Cost Accountant, is responsible for preparing accurate estimates, working with program managers, production and accounting to establish the proper vendors and costing associated with the different media for estimates. Working with vendors on our requirements for accurate estimates, quality control, rate cards, find new resources, procedures for all media, including but not limited to; print, direct mail, research, rental lists, surveys, digital, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Estimate labor, material and media costs based on specifications outlined from sales, account team and executives
  • Secure precise, written estimates from the direct mail, pricing and other media vendors
  • Confer with account team, department heads and/or production personnel to develop or confirm information regarding various cost elements
  • Calculate total costs for both proposed and actual jobs to include comparison of quantities and efficient production process
  • Review post–production PO's and compare actual versus estimated costs while providing post analysis of job performance to review projected gross profit
  • Prioritize contracts and pricing while negotiating
  • Anticipate problems and act on opportunities pricing situations
  • Evaluate methods available for producing the job and select the partner that delivers the best quality, meets expectations and is on time and error free
  • Maintain a cadre of suppliers that produce to dms standards accordingly
  • Ensure verbal orders are not accepted or given without written back–up
  • Ensure all client, team members and other key player interactions with dms are professional, accurate, clear and concise
  • Develop, maintain and understand relationships with clients, team members and other key players
  • Understand client's quality expectations and manage details accordingly
  • Resolve problems with vendors
  • Be responsible, dependable, flexible and communicative with the client and/or team members
  • Use effective time management skills to multi–task and improve workflow
  • Produce quality work product and meet agreed upon deadlines
  • Identify quality control process issues with vendors and find resolutions
  • Continually develop or improve processes and clearly document and identify solutions
  • Ensure Account Managers sales needs are met in a timely and accurate manner
  • Recognize and understand delineation of responsibilities
  • Display a positive attitude and be receptive to process improvement suggestions
  • Search for new direct mail formats, print production technology and other media innovations
  • All other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong, high level communications skills – both oral and written
  • Excellent math skills are essential
  • Expert level Microsoft excel skills
  • Detail oriented – Accuracy is a must
  • Self–motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize, work on multiple tasks and work well under deadlines
  • Proficient at handling challenges creatively both internally and externally
  • Tenacity to research and overcome problems
  • Ability to be creative and think beyond the obvious ways to produce the job

  • Printing and related experience in all phases of production (prepress, press, bindery, mailing and shipping) is required in wide format, sheetfed and web offset and digital print environments
  • Direct Marketing experience a plus

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years in estimating or related industry of print, direct mail, digital and software development
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Relevant professional experience is required
