Mertz Manufacturing, Inc., founded in 1927 in Ponca City, OK, designs and builds a wide range of custom steel fabricated products. The majority of our products are specifically designed trailers to serve as the mobile platform for our customers' specialized equipment, typically used in the Oil & Gas industry. We also build stationary structures to house or transport equipment. Very often, our products involve complicated electronics and hydraulics to achieve the results our customers require.All of our products are custom designed and built to our customers' exacting specifications for the quantities and delivery times the customer requires. Frequently, customers approach Mertz with an idea for a product to fill a unique business need with little more than a sketch to work from. Often, our customers are looking for results that either defy the laws of physics or the state highway system. Mertz has consistently been able to work with our customers to find unique and affordable solutions to these complex problems. Mertz' ability to take a customer idea from inception through design, prototyping, and final production with the highest commitment to quality and safety have earned our customers' trust.Mertz has over three–hundred employees and growing as the Oil & Gas industry revives. Just under half of our workforce consists of welders followed by almost equal numbers of painters, machinists, assembly mechanics, and steel cutting and forming workers. We also have a design team and other support functions that provide essential services such as accounting, purchasing, quality control, inventory, and IT.Controller PositionMertz Manufacturing, Inc. is expanding and actively seeking a quality individual to oversee the Accounting department that will help take the company to the next level of growth and profitability. An employee in this position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The right candidate will be decisive, driven, analytical and results–focused, yet supportive and diplomatic. Mertz has an established workplace safety program to provide a healthful, safe and environmentally compliant work environment for employees, customers and visitors. Its success depends on the alertness and personal commitment of all. Safety–critical tasks are performed throughout the facility on a daily basis. These jobs include operating forklifts, overhead cranes, heavy equipment operation and tasks involving high levels of cognitive function and judgment. An employee in this position could be subject to exposure to dirt, dust, noise, vibration, moving objects, mechanical parts, and equipment hazards. Proper personal protective equipment must be worn in designated areas at all times. An employee in this position must demonstrate an understanding of safety procedures and the ability to work in a safety–sensitive environment.Duties And ResponsibilitiesMaintain the General Ledger.Prepare monthly reports, monthly forecasts, annual operating plan, and strategic planning.Responsible for internal controls at the plant for operations, sales and finance.Analyze and accurately report current month's financial results to the plant, sales, and corporate management in accordance with corporate format and time requirements.Submit all financial transactions, transmissions, and reporting on a timely and accurate basis.Perform audits of bills of materials to ensure product costs are accurate and accounted for properly.Ensure timely and accurate input of bill of material and price code changes.Ensure bill of material and costing accurately reflect production operations.Document and understand ERP systems.Reconcile all inter–company accounts monthly.Assist in the completion of special projects.Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.Assure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Policies. Resolve questions of GAAP and internal controls with corporate financial management.Controller Skills And QualificationsStrong leadership skills with a commitment to excellence demonstrated in work history.Excellent speaking, writing and listening skills.Proven ability to work in a fast–paced and high–demand environment.Knowledge and experience with ERP systems in Discrete Manufacturing; preferably with Made2Manage ERP.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), with emphasis on Excel as it is used heavily for data analysis and reporting.Strong business acumen (management principles, strategic planning, critical thinking, budgeting, resource allocation, human resources, etc.).Education And ExperienceMinimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required.Minimum of 3–5 years as a plant controller or cost manager in a manufacturing environment, managing staff.High level of proficiency in the use of ERP systems.HR and insurance administrative oversight a plus.Benefits ProvidedMertz Manufacturing, Inc. offers an excellent compensation and benefits package.
