SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Senior Accountant will serve an integral role in the monthly close process, performing journal entries and key analysis. The Senior Accountant will research and resolve accounting issues, make recommendations, implement process and control improvements and document results and conclusions to ensure accuracy within our system of record. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following: Member of General Accounting Shared Service Organization; currently supporting 6 entities Perform technical research on current & new accounting pronouncements Prepare monthly journal entries and perform analysis of P&L accounts Prepare various balance sheet account reconciliations and analyses Prepare consolidating financial statements Prepare related party balance confirmations report on a quarterly basis Provide support with quarterly income tax provision Update tax software system with tax exempt customers master data Prepare balance sheet carve–out file for Impairment study Work with various functional areas to develop monthly/quarterly accruals Identify and implement process improvements within the department Perform SAP financial system user acceptance tests, as needed Assist with monthly, quarterly, annual government reports Assist and support staff and senior managements, as needed Participate in adhoc projects (e.g. to streamline, automate and simplify various G/L activities) Prepare/update Standard Operating Procedures for Finance processes CORE COMPETENCIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Detail oriented, thorough Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to multi–task and handle multiple projects simultaneously Strong PC skills, especially Microsoft Excel and Word Able to work in a TEAM environment as well as individually Strong written and oral communication skills Positive and enthusiastic attitude Customer service oriented Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and areas supported EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: BS/BA degree with a major in accounting 5 to 7 years minimum finance / accounting experience SAP experience preferred International Accounting Standards (IAS) knowledge Computer Science knowledge Tax Software – Thompson Reuters/Vertex a plus Big 4 public accounting experience a plus Blackline – Account Reconciliation tool experience a plus Robotic Process Automation experience a plus CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Work toward or currently has CPA certification
