Job Description Summary
The purpose of this role is to support senior management and Heads of Function across the Investment management business to identify and mitigate risks arising within investment processes. The job holder will provide thought leadership, knowledge, analytical skills, stakeholder management capability, and self-confidence to challenge existing processes and to make well researched and soundly judged recommendations for improvement.

Customer and Business Risk (C&BR) are here to support the Group Director Insurance & Wealth and the Executive team manage risk. C&BR is a first line function with a clear remit to improve controls and support the delivery of customer strategy. Its success will be tested against clear, tangible delivery goals articulated through established metrics. C&BR has specialists in different aspects of risk including investment, operational, regulatory and business risks.

The purpose of this role is to support senior management and Heads of Function across the Investment management business to identify and mitigate risks arising within investment processes. The job holder will provide thought leadership, knowledge, analytical skills, stakeholder management capability, and self-confidence to challenge existing processes and to make well researched and soundly judged recommendations for improvement.

What you'll be doing...

You'll bring the risk framework to life for the business in such a way that the business is enabled to build its own credibility and confidence in their own management of risks and controls.

You'll oversee investment related activity within the business as well as where this is delegated to other teams e.g. asset managers, custodian (stock lending)

You'll provide operational risk (some regulatory may also be required) advice on the substance, design and development ‎of project/business solutions and related risks and issues.

You will partner with head of functions to help deliver business change in a risk controlled way.

Provide technical advice on investment process and risk related matters to deliver industry best practice.

You'll build and maintain an effective internal and external network of key partners to establish understanding of the business and regulatory environment and risks

We're looking for your skills in the following...
  • Ability to build and maintain a relationship with key executive partners.
  • Strong influencing, negotiating and coaching skills.
  • Significant subject matter expertise of investment management, operational and enterprise risk.
  • Knowledge of different asset classes including fixed income, derivatives and illiquid asset classes would be helpful
  • Understanding of regulatory framework and compliance requirements for investment firms.
