Job Description

Our client is seeking a Head of Finance & Controlling who will be responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the organization in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and all internal company requirements. The Head of Finance & Controlling will be a member of the executive team and responsible to consult senior management on financial issues. Day to day responsibilities include the following:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance
  • Participate in the development of company plans and programs as a strategic partner
  • Prepare and report financial results to management team and parent company at scheduled intervals
  • Prepare, evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action
  • Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist local and international senior executives in performing their responsibilities
  • Provide technical financial advise and knowledge to others within the financial organization
  • Continuous improvement of the budgeting process through education of departmental managers on financial issues impacting their budgets
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization such as evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions and/or mergers and pension funds and investments
  • Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism, which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
  • Establish or recommend major financial objectives and policies
  • Oversee and direct audit, tax, and accounting activities for the company
  • Ensure that a robust and appropriate internal control framework is in place and operating
  • Ensure that the company is in full compliance with federal, state and other regulatory regulations and rules
  • Develop key process indicators (KPIs) to track results of activities and regulatory reports to top management
  • Direct, consolidate and analyze all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routing reports, including any desirable analysis of monthly departmental reports
  • Evaluate finance department structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities of individuals

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate financial management and thorough knowledge of GAAP and IAS accounting standards
  • Proven track record of cross company oversight and management
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SAP
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills who is creative and forward thinking with high ethical standards
  • Must have a proven track record of developing and implementing new processes and procedures as well as the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to think strategically as well as tactically
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and prioritization skills
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees
  • Up to 50% domestic travel; some international travel
