Refuge opened the world’s first safe house for women and children fleeing domestic violence in Chiswick, West London in 1971. Since then the charity has grown to become the country’s largest single provider of specialist domestic violence services. On any given day, its national network of services supports over 6,500 women and children. Committed to a world where domestic violence is not tolerated and where women and children can live in safety, Refuge aims to empower women and children rebuild their lives, free from violence and fear.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join our Finance Department, as a Finance Assistant. The role involves managing the purchase ledger function, ensuring that all invoices are appropriately coded, processed and promptly paid within agreed payment terms.

It also entails processing employee expense claims and controlling all petty cash floats.

It is essential that as well as being a competent user of MS Office, you should also have solid experience of computerised accounting systems, particularly of purchase ledgers.

You are expected to be highly numerate, accurate and methodical with very good attention to detail. You should also be able to actively prioritise your workload and be able to work to strict deadlines in a structured and organised manner.

You will also have good written and verbal communication skills with a mature attitude to resolving difficulties, strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work well within a team as well as liaising with non-financial managers and colleagues.
