Finance Division
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to Firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.
Tax Department
The Tax Department reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 200 employees worldwide. The Tax Department is responsible for global tax compliance, tax accounting, business unit tax advice and tax planning for the Firm.
Roles & responsibilities:
Reporting to Executive Director, the candidate will:
- Represent Asia tax in global / regional projects, liaise within Tax and across functional areas including liaison with senior personnel in the organization
- Understand the business / products and how tax is applied to business transactions, work with infrastructure teams in global / regional projects to ensure correct application of tax regulations
- Support Tax Operations, provide advice on transaction taxes as well as withholding and reporting matters
- Keep up with operational tax developments in the region, identify impact to the firm's business, and monitor implementation of system upgrade to capture such changes
- Support regional and global initiatives for automation and process efficiencies
- Manage external advisors; participant in industry groups and initiatives
Qualifications:
Skills / experience required:
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting & finance or economics
- 5 - 8 years of tax experience in accounting firm or multinational company
- Strong project management skills and analytical stills
- Able to lead a project independently and drive it towards completion
- Strong team player and interpersonal skills, able to work cohesively across functional groups
- Attention to detail and highly organized
- Quick learner, adaptive to new environment
- Proficiency in Excel; knowledge in other data analytics / automation tools or ability to pick technology aspects is an advantage
- Excellent written and spoken English
