Information Technology and Security at The University of Tampa has a position available for a Business Analyst. Under the direction of the Director of Enterprise Solutions, this position will be responsible primarily for the development, maintenance, and support of ancillary applications and secondary support of the university Enterprise Applications. The Business Analyst will be evaluating opportunities, gathering requirements and working with the university functional areas to recommend and support business process needs and improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

    >
  • Provide feedback as to the feasibility of enhancement requests and best practice recommendations in regards to using enterprise applications
  • Maintain a strong collaborative relationship with Information Technology and Security, Staff, Faculty, Students, and Software Vendors
  • Enterprise Application Problem Research and Resolution, Coordination of Application Support, Vendor Support and Management, Enhancement Requirement Gathering and Documentation
  • Requirements research and analysis related to Integrations
  • Identify and achieve efficiencies through technological workflow improvements
  • Assist project management in the development of project tasks that support goals, time frames, identify limitations, risks, contingencies, staffing, and other resources
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations for SIS/Supporting Ancillary Systems
  • Adhere to policies and procedures as defined by information technology and security management and leadership
  • Provide information / documentation to ITS Helpdesk technicians/student workers, and others within the information technology and security department to assist in supporting systems
  • Support departmental staff and administration with the identification, evaluation, recommendation, selection, support and maintenance of systems solutions
  • Evaluate new solutions and features and make appropriate recommendations to campus stakeholders on adoption or implementation
  • Assist with other processes and projects as required
  • Support Information Technology and Security in ISO 27001 related practices to ensure the security and protection of university assets and data >


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • A minimum of 3 years related work experience as a business analyst
  • Experience performing business analyst functions, such as gathering user requirements, writing functional design specifications, configuring software, executing test scripts, implementing solutions and providing ongoing support
  • Minimum of 1 years related work experience with a major Enterprise Application system such as Jenzabar, Workday, Ellucian, Peoplesoft
  • Certification, advanced training, or experience administrating the following applications: Hyland Onbase, Nolij Web, ImageNow or other electronic content management systems
  • Working knowledge of relational database reporting tools and SQL knowledge is a plus
  • Experience working directly with end users in a production support environment
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
  • On–call and occasional weekend work required >

  • An understanding of key business functions in higher education (e.g. student financial aid, recruiting, admissions, registration, student financials and advising)
  • Must be highly proficient at troubleshooting, and detailed documentation
  • Must be able to understand the client–s business processes and the capabilities/limitations of the business applications used
  • By understanding the impact of the client's processes on application capabilities, make recommendations that help solve business problems in the most efficient and effective manner
  • The functional expert and the developer of technical specifications: they turn business requirements into technical specifications so that other ITS staff members can use these technical specifications to modify existing or develop new application functions
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to use SQL or other query tools to perform analysis
  • Experience in a higher education institution
  • Experience working in project teams >
