This Payroll Customer service specialist will be working out of central Cambridge as a key member of our UK HR Operations & Solutions Team, reporting to the Payroll Lead, with role primary focus to deliver exceptional customer service for all payroll data issues and queries from employees.

This Payroll Customer service specialist will be working out of central Cambridge as a key member of our UK HR Operations & Solutions Team, reporting to the Payroll Lead, with role primary focus to deliver exceptional customer service for all payroll data issues and queries form employees. You will become or already be a payroll subject matter expert across HR and ensure excellence in payroll and time management systems and related processes for our thousands of UK employees.

Description

Key focus and challenges of this Payroll Customer Service specialist role

  • Passion to create a great support customer experience
  • Translate business payroll requests into mass upload templates of payroll input, submit them to the payroll vendor for processing, ensure prompt processing, and validate accurate processing via auditing procedures
  • Ensure payroll vendor receives all payroll instructions in a timely manner, reconcile instructions sent against vendor reports
  • Perform overpayment recovery process and apply appropriate regulations as required to ensure compliance
  • Perform appropriate audit controls to ensure payroll is processed accurately
  • Complete payroll reconciliation and processing of various periodic reports, e.g. pension leavers, sales bonus processing and missing national insurance numbers
  • Respond to payroll tickets
  • Research and resolve employee pay and time issues
  • Act as subject matter expert for payroll and applicable terms & conditions
  • Work with other in-country HR teams and Regional HR Centre to manage complex employee transactions (e.g. redundancies, involuntary terminations, etc.)
  • Use the HR knowledge base and internal work instructions to ensure that processes are executed correctly and customer guidance is provided in an effective and consistent manner
  • Effectively operate financial and SOX controls, checking to ensure that all appropriate approvals are in place where needed to support time and payroll transactions
  • Support Payroll Lead and wider HR Services team with special projects as directed. Conduct ad hoc analyses as applicable. Provide support for critical HR initiatives as needed

Profile

Payroll Customer Service Specialist Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting HR processes and transactions, ideally in Workday
  • Knowledge and Experience of UK payroll legislation.
  • Understanding of payroll management and integrations gained through direct experience working in a Payroll/HR Data team would be preferred
  • Keen attention to detail and focus on data accuracy
  • Understanding of common HR and service centre enabling technologies - e.g. case management, telephony and online user portals
  • Able to communicate fluently in English
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing tasks efficiently and prioritise workload within a matrixed team environment
  • Enjoys working as part of a lively and hard-working team, performing together under pressure to meet monthly payroll deadlines
  • Experience in Microsoft applications
  • Highly developed communications, organisation and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work with confidential data
  • Experience of delivering against Service Level agreements, including working with third party providers to meet work deadlines
  • Ability to think analytically and effectively problem solve using creative solutions
  • Services minded with a "can do attitude" - dedicated to providing good service with a customer focus
