Pertemps Specialist Division are delighted to be working in collaboration with our public sector client to recruit an Assistant Accountant on an initial 10 month contract. Based in Edinburgh, this will be a full-time role, paying between £80 - £130 per day.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Financial Accountant with the timely and accurate delivery of the Agency Statutory Statement of Accounts; ensuring compliance.
- Assist with the completion and submission of the consolidation pack
- Support the financial management by assisting the Financial Accountant in ensuring that the client has the appropriate delegated financial framework in place to allow delegated accountable officers to make financial commitments
- Providing specialist advice on operational and strategic financial issues
- Increase stakeholder knowledge and understanding of the financial consequences of business decisions
Essential Criteria:
- Part qualified CCAB (or CIMA) Accountant, or AAT (or similar) qualified, and willing to work towards completing a professional accountancy qualification.
- Experience within a finance function in a relevant finance role with experience of using a Windows based financial system.
- Accomplished people management skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of contacts and positively influence others to achieve desired results.
- Ability to interpret and analyse financial data and apply excellent decision making and problem solving techniques to resolve complex issues effectively.
- Proactive with the ability to work individually, to lead and be part of a team.
- IT literate, including intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups etc).
