Owner-managed group (circa £10m turnover) based in the Doncaster region have an opportunity for a Financial Controller to join them on a permanent basis. You will be the primary finance contact for the organisation (reporting to the MD and Operations Director). The role manages 4 staff (all areas of transactional finance) and you will be extremely pivotal in delivering financial information that will ultimately allow the business to continue to grow. First 12 months: Assess the existing controls and processes and make the monthly reporting process as slick and accurate as possible. Assess the develop areas of the existing team (if any) and support their progress. Work with the directors to produce a more accurate forecasting model. Assess the budgets and current variances / trends and begin to work with the operational managers to understand the cost base and the levers of success in the business currently. Put robust controls in place to ensure integrity of the balance sheet. Take firm control of cashflow - improve the frequency of reporting and managed the supplier base / debtors ledger appropriately to maximise efficiency. Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Develop budgeting processes that better suit the needs of the business and begin to work with the directors to produce a strategic roadmap for further growth. Lead through year end audit (produce statutory accounts). From here your role will continue to develop but it goes without saying this will be a busy, incredibly challenging but rewarding 12 months for the right individual! The MD needs a highly reliable, dedicated head of finance. You must have a track record of success as Financial Controller (number 1 in finance ideally) for an SME / subsidiary of a larger group. You will be hands on in your approach and comfortable with the remit outlined above. You will have a professional approach and confident communication skills.
