Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation based in Edinburgh, are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Financial Accountant for an initial 10 month contract on a rate of c.£150-180/day (inside of IR35).
Responsibilities:
• Support the financial management of the client by assisting the Financial Accountant in ensuring that the client has the appropriate delegated financial framework in place to allow delegated accountable officers to make financial commitments on behalf of the client.
• Providing specialist advice on operational and strategic financial issues including: current legislation, treasury management, and external audit compliance and risk management. Attending meetings with senior managers as required.
• Increase stakeholder knowledge and understanding of the financial consequences of business decisions.
• Developing accurate and relevant financial reporting utilising the client's finance system (Agresso). This will include collaboration with the Management Reporting team to produce timely and relevant monthly financial and management reports to the relevant stakeholders.
• Responsible for the management of the Treasury function and for the development and implementation financial policies and procedures in your area of responsibility - in particular the Financial Policy and Guidance Manual.
Requirements:
• Part qualified CCAB (or CIMA) Accountant, or AAT (or similar) qualified, and willing to work towards completing a professional accountancy qualification.
• Experience within a finance function in a relevant finance role with experience of using a Windows based financial system.
• Accomplished people management skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of contacts and positively influence others to achieve desired results.
• Ability to interpret and analyse financial data and apply excellent decision making and problem solving techniques to resolve complex issues effectively.
• Proactive with the ability to work individually, to lead and be part of a team.
• IT literate, including intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups etc).
