Job Purpose:   The Financial Accountant will provide accounting support to the Finance Manager and Finance Director in relation to critical performance areas and assist Concern to meet its regulatory reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision of financial accounting services including preparation of monthly management accounts, annual and revised budgets.
  • Completion of monthly reconciliations as part of month end process.
  • Liaising with budget holders in HQ departments as part of month end and budget processes
  • Responsible for financial reporting to Donors for HQ funded projects to strict deadlines including review and consolidation of partner financial returns
  • Verification and review of monthly income uploads to finance system.
  • Provision of support to finance manager in general financial management, representing finance at HQdepartment meetings as necessary
  • Verification and review of credit card statements
  • Verification and processing staff floats and expenses.
  • Act as liaison with banks ensuring that mandates are properly maintained.
  • Act as systems administrator for accounts system and on-line banking systems.
  • Providing cover as required within the team.

Skills and Experience Required:


  • Applicants should have a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with a minimum of two years post-qualification experience
  • Computer Literacy essential with intermediate to advanced excel skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail essential
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills required
  • Empathy with the organizational goals of Concern
  • Commitment to working in a team environment


  • Previous experience on Microsoft Great Plains
  • Experience of working in a similar organization desirable but not essential
