Buyer

The main purpose of the Buyer function is to procure raw materials, ensuring the best quality product and correct quantity delivered timeously. To fulfil the necessary requirements within the Department to meet the Company's objectives by providing administrative and clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of the Department.

- Calculate optimum order quantities and place orders, following up regularly with Suppliers regarding overdue orders.

- Place non-stock orders for research and development projects.
- Process new orders, including checking of stock holding, cancel lines where applicable, check dates and pricing.
- Run a daily report from Syspro of material requirement planning (MRP) to replenish stock.
- Responsible for capturing daily requisitions received from production.
- Place orders for satellite stores.
- Liaise with clearing agents and shipping lines.
- Request collection arrangements with couriers.
- Track all shipments, via waybill numbers.
- Responsible for arranging of urgent airfreights.
- Ensure that the clearing agents has all the required clearing documents for import purposes.
- Place online import orders, and ensure receiving documents are supplied.
- Build and maintain respectful and professional communication with all suppliers.
- Ensure that all relevant supplier information is communicated to the Procurement Department timeously.
- Ensure that Supplier contact details are updated regularly.
- Ensure that DVO's, BCR's and changes are actioned by deleting and adding of parts on relevant orders.
- Establish which stock items are obsolete within production.
- Liaise with the Design and Technical Engineering Department on new parts with reference to quotes and drawings.
- Liaise with the Quality Control Department on all rejected parts.
- Perform invoice verification for service providers.
- Create excel order reports for Logistics Manager and Suppliers.
- Any ad hoc duties as and when required.

Ideal qualification: Diploma in Purchasing.
Syspro experience would be advantageous.
Own transport and valid driver's license.
