Our client, a global property specialist consultancy is seeking a Management Accountant to join the Newcastle team.
The main focus of this role will be to support the finance manager with the month end process and all other finance functions within the Transactional Division which transacts 600-700 deals per month across four global regions.
Key Responsibilities- Business partner with the Head of Sales and Sales support in Newcastle, assisting with KPI analysis, P&L review, target setting and forecasting.
- Business partner with the department heads relating to the Central Overheads budget and expense.
- Work with Finance Manager to prepare Month End financial reporting pack, including P&L, BS, and supporting reconciliations.
- Ensure that month end adjustments (prepayments, accruals, provisions) are correctly supported, calculated and posted.
- Ownership of balance sheet accounts ensuring they are reconciled on at least a monthly basis for all global entities.
- Review the P&L's monthly with the business heads to ensure they are aware of YTD figures and variances to budget.
- Manage the accounts payable function, reviewing ledgers and authorising pay runs.
- Support the Finance Manager in ad-hoc tasks, reporting requirements and projects, including process improvement, compliance, budgets/forecasts, and enhancement of accounting system.
- Partner with the Group FC to ensure periodic reporting deadlines (VAT, PAYE, NI, CT) are met, with submissions correctly supported, calculated, reviewed and submitted.
- Be a key contact for external audit team during on-site fieldwork
- Great initiative and a really hands-on attitude - able to see issues as they arise and respond/escalate as needed.
- Ability to work independantly
- Strong attention to detail, enjoy building and maintaining calendars, timetables and checklists to ensure the finance tasks run smoothly
- Great technical ability - instinctual knowledge for where the debits and credits should go and an ‘everything can be reconciled' attitude
- Eager to learn and absorb information from the team, process and contribute own viewpoint/opinion
- Strong Excel and accounting system skills (client uses Great Plains)
- Excellent communication
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Experience of working remotely from business/team.
- The main KPI for this role will be achieving the above responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner.
- The key stakeholders will be the finance team (specifically the Finance Manager) and the Broking Team
