Job Description

We are currently recruiting a Financial Accountant on a permanent contract to join our team in Chiswick Park, West London.

The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial data in of dedicated Northern Europe entities (The UK, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, Norway), ensuring compliance with all aspects of the technical accounting and regulatory environment.

The role will maintain and develop the existing processes in order to fulfil business requirements and objectives, maintain effective communication to ensure the financial information is in line with accounting standards and will identify areas of improvement and promote positive changes to finance.

The position requires a sound knowledge of accountancy, good technical capability and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with external parties, in particular the centralized Finance Shared Services function (GSS) and external accountants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Financial Controls Manager (FCM) in ensuring integrity and accuracy for all accounting aspects of legal entities
  • Ensure an accurate and timely delivery of month end and year end close in line with corporate timelines, with timely escalations to FCM
  • Perform pre-close BS and P&L trend analysis to ensure a complete and accurate month end close
  • Oversee and support GSS with the transactional processing performed by GSS
  • Perform monthly review of all balance sheet reconciliations prepared by GSS, including intercompany, accounts receivable and accounts payable to avoid risk of any misstatement
  • Hedge the balance sheet by currency to limit exposure to fluctuating exchange rates
  • Assist with the interpretation, forecasting and reporting of foreign exchange results for the LE under the perimeter
  • Manage the cash flow forecasting process to ensure accuracy and completeness of forecasts
  • Prepare the statutory accounts for the UK legal entity in accordance with IFRS, and support the external accountants with the completion of the other LE
  • Support the management of yearend audit and corporation tax returns for all legal entities
  • Prepare VAT Returns and support the other regulatory compliance processes (ONS, EC sales listing, PSA returns, and other ad-hoc requirements) to ensure adherence to statutory requirements and deadlines, including liaison with advisors
  • Work closely with Tax Director, Europe to maintain transfer pricing documentation and to ensure taxation is correctly accounted for
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationship with other company managers and staff
  • Respond to and resolve queries from Regional Finance, Corporate Finance, Corporate Taxation and other Intl.SOS entities relating to area of expertise

Qualifications

Required Skills and Knowledge
  • You must be a Qualified Accountant or equivalent and ideally come from an audit background
  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
  • Strong ability to multi-task - managing changing and competing priorities and absorbing new information rapidly to address complex issues
  • Strong capability to adapt to necessary changes
  • Deadline-orientated and an ability to stick to time constraints
  • Hands-on with day-to-day operations
  • Be independent and firm, at same time a team player
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English language
  • Intermediate level of Excel skills (pivot tableas and Vlookups is a minimum)
  • Experience with accounting software; preferably SUN Accounting, Cognos

Required Work Experience & Qualifications
  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or any other international accounting equivalent)
  • Experience with Statutory Reporting i.e. VAT; Audit or Tax
  • Experience of operating within a complex organization with evidence of communicating with a variety of people at different levels
  • Multinational company experience in a fast paced service environment
  • Proven analytical ability in identifying and delivering on areas for improvements to accounting and operational processes
  • Experience managing conflicting deadlines and priorities.
