Group Financial Controller (Open to Public Competition) The Role: Our Finance Function currently wish to recruit a Group Financial Controller on a permanent contract. This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer/Head of Central Services. The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following: Leading and managing the Group finance function, ensuring financial compliance, performance monitoring and optimised profitability through ensuring that the correct operational controls, reporting procedures, and systems are in place throughout the Group. Work with the CFO to implement the Finance strategy, provide support in consideration of the financial aspects of all key decisions, to support the delivery of group strategy. Lead, motivate and develop Group, FSSC and Business Finance teams with a strong focus on coaching and recognising opportunities for development in order to achieve KPIs. Build and maintain excellent working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Provide strong leadership to the development and implementation of Group Finance strategies, which aim to achieve the Company mission. Demonstrate exemplary people management and in line with Group policies and procedures. Resource the Group Finance Structure and define the roles to deliver the business strategy. Proactively use the Performance Management Process as a means to support resource planning within your team and the wider finance teams. Provide strong financial leadership and discipline in the development of business strategy. Conduct evaluation, modelling and analysis of commercial initiatives and provide the business decision makers with insight and direction on key business decisions. Lead the development of the annual Five Year Planning process in the Group and present the plan to the key stakeholders. Lead the implementation of the Finance strategy to achieve the overall Group strategy. In particular ensure that the Group drives maximum value from the recent investment in Financial Shared Services on an Oracle platform. Ensure best in class Business Intelligence reporting is developed and implemented, in both operating businesses and at Group level to optimise timely decision-making and monitoring of business outcomes. Ensure that robust internal control systems are in place to assure the integrity of the Group's management and statutory reporting and the safeguarding of the Company's assets. Oversee the implementation of the internal and external audit recommendations and maintain Finance policies. Manage the Group and Business Finance Business Partners on financial direction setting, target setting and performance improvement. Provide finance coaching to the Heads of Functions and communicate the financials in a manner understood by non-finance resources. Proactively interpret the trends / changes within the markets in which Bord na Móna operates. The Group actively promotes succession planning for key roles. The Group Financial Controller will be expected to develop succession plans in respect of key roles within his/her area of responsibility. Manage completion of all periodic financial accounting and management reporting. Manage the completion of the annual Group statutory audit and annual budget, on a timely and efficient basis, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards. Ensure compliance throughout the group with tax legislation in a "co-operative compliance" environment, while also ensuring appropriate tax planning initiatives are developed and implemented. Provide technical financial advice on Group initiatives and restructuring projects All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises The Person: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes: Qualified Accountant (qualification achieved through a large accounting firm desirable); Minimum of seven (7) years post graduate experience with 4+ years in a Senior Management role; Knowledge of performing business reviews and providing challenge to business objectives and targets; Knowledge of Key Business Processes; Knowledge of integrated ERP system (preferably Oracle), Microsoft Office, Excel.
