The opportunity
  • With around 100 professionals, Modelling encompasses Transaction Modelling, Decision Support, Analytics and Operational Research. Transaction Modelling model review projects involve complex financial models for transactions, financial restructuring and forecasting.
  • We work on a wide range of model review projects for a wide range of clients. Projects are originated through direct client connections or via an internal network
  • In recent years the team has grown significantly and has ambitious plans to sustain that growth thereby providing tangible development opportunities

Your key responsibilities
  • Delivering model review projects to the highest standards
  • Scoping model review projects and negotiating engagement agreements with clients (with appropriate support from the EY engagement partner, quality, and legal teams)
  • Managing multi-disciplinary teams, including colleagues from our specialist accounting and UK and global tax teams
  • Liaising with clients directly and / or other internal teams where model review is part of a multi-disciplinary engagement
  • Managing the financial aspects of engagements by preparing a budget, organising staffing, tracking engagement economics, keeping clients up to date and communicating the status to the project Partner
  • Developing new business by responding to clients' requests for proposals and from building and leveraging your own your network of internal and external contacts
  • Coaching and counselling junior team members

Skills and attributes for success
  • Passion for finance, tenacity, commitment and attention to detail
  • Professionalism and confidence to deal with a range of stakeholder groups including client management, lenders and our client's professional advisors whilst knowing when it is appropriate to consult on issues with EY colleagues
  • The ability to build strong internal relationships, particularly within other Transaction Advisory Services teams
  • Understanding the capabilities of the firm and looking for opportunities to bring other specialists in to the assignment to achieve the best solution
  • Sharing knowledge and supporting the career and technical development of other team members

To qualify for the role you must have
  • An excellent track record of leading teams in complex model review engagements in a transaction or fast moving environment
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage more than one assignment at a time and yet still demonstrate quality and consistency of performance in every task
  • People management skills and previous evidence of coaching/counselling others to maximise performance
  • The ability to share technical and other knowledge with the team drawing on previous experience and current learning
  • A flexible and positive approach and adapt well to change
  • The desire and ability to build effective relationships at all levels
  • A strong appreciation of risk management

Ideally, you'll also have
  • Counselling skills
  • Track record within a recognised Financial Modelling team
  • Professional qualification, such as ACA/CA/ACCA would be helpful
