Michael Page are pleased to be working with a well-known Not For Profit in Central Bristol, supporting the recruitment of a Financial Controller.


The successful candidate will:

  • Ensure that the finance systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and in compliance with all legal requirements, meeting the accounting and management needs of the organisation.
  • Ensure that adequate financial controls and processes are in place and are complied with, in order to minimise financial risk to the organisation.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the organisation, monitoring and managing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, accurate accounting entries.
  • Provide support to budget-holders in the effective management of their budgets and adherence to finance policies and procedures.
  • Bring commercial acumen to the financial management of the organisation, challenging budget-holders as required, and identifying areas for potential cost-savings and opportunities for increased income generation across the range of business activities.
  • Lead the preparation of the Financial Statements, including the application of accounting standards (SORP), the resolution of audit issues, reconciling to the Management Accounts as appropriate.
  • Work with external auditors and tax consultants as appropriate.
  • Line manage, inspire and develop the Finance team through individual objective setting and performance management, regular 1:1 and team meetings, and identification of training needs.

    The successful candidate will possess several key general skills including leadership; communication; organisation; and teamwork. More role specific requirements include financial management experience; change management; and process improvements.
