Financial Accountant working for a medium sized housing association reporting directly into the Finance Director responsible for the group statutory accounts and leading on the audit process.

The organisation is a medium sized Housing association based in East London and our the the largest provider of sheltered housing in Tower Hamlets. The organisation has an exciting future ahead with the long term financial aiming to expand the organisation and develop more property's in the local area.
Description
The Financial Accountant will have the following responsibility's:
- To lead and prepare the year end statutory account and working papers within the agreed timescales.To ensure that all reconciliations and all relevant schedules and notes to the accounts are completed within agreed timescales
- Lead on the preparation of the service charge audit ensuring all working papers are completed to timetable for the external audit.
- Have responsibility for operating efficiently and effectively the Treasury Management function, including liquidity, covenants compliance, debt, interest rates and investment management, bank accounts in accordance with the approved Treasury Policy Statement and Annual Treasury Strategy of the Association.
- To update the Associations long-term Financial Plan in accordance with Changes to the Association financial management. This will include updating as a result of budgets/year.
- To be responsible for preparing the HCA quarterly and annual returns within the specified timescales.
- Responsible for partnering with the development team to review all finical assumptions with the development project appraisal system, update cashflows quarterly and monitor scheme expenditure.
Profile
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant with exceptional technical skills and a proven track record of leading a team of accountants in a complex organisation.
You will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels. You will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the principles of financial control, and have proven experience of identifying and implementing improvements to financial controls and procedures. You will also have experience dealing with both treasury and development finance.
Previous experience in a financial role in the housing sector would be a distinct advantage but is not essential.
