Lavendon Group is the European and Middle East market leader in the rental of powered access equipment; with a fleet of almost 21,000 machines across depots in the UK, the Middle East, France, Germany and Belgium and annual Group revenues of approximately £250 million. It has recently been acquired by Loxam SAS, a French multinational Rental business, taking the combined Group turnover to in excess of £1bn.




Following the acquisition the need has arisen to recruit a qualified Financial Accountant on a 9 month contract to provide additional accounting support and accounting technical input into the enlarged Group.





Key duties include:



  • Preparation of monthly Group consolidated management accounts

Close involvement in the production of the Group's annual, interim and quarterly statutory reports under IFRS, liaising with the Group's external auditors
Subsidiary statutory accounts preparation, under UK GAAP (FRS 101 and FRS 102)
Involvement in the preparation of the annual consolidated budget
Provide a point of contact to the Group's subsidiary operations
Act as finance business partner to the various Group support functions
Drive continuous improvement of Group reporting
Fair value and policy alignment work
Various project work, including readiness and adoption of IFRS15 and IFRS16

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

Experience of IFRS reporting and consolidations (including overseas subsidiaries), together with UK GAAP experience
Excellent understanding of double entry bookkeeping
Sound understanding of the impact of exchange rates on Group consolidations
IT literate, with strong spreadsheet skills
Experience of Cognos Controller would be beneficial
Methodical and logical in approach and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a high attention to detail
Professional and energetic individual, keen to take ownership and drive improvement, together with a good sense of humour
