Group Accountant - Our Client is a large UK based property development company, who are listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are developing a number of key strategic sites and as they look to expand they are taking on a Group Accountant to become part of a team responsible for the delivery of annual and quarterly Group and management accounts based on the Group consolidation and will be reporting to the Director of Financial Planning and the Group Finance Director. The Role will involve the following: Quarterly consolidation and review of 90+ companies, incorporating results of subsidiaries and joint venture entities.Consolidating under IFRS and will include preparation and documentation of consolidation journals.Providing variance analysis on quarterly management accounts comparing forecast versus budget.Preparation of the financial sections ('the back end') of the Group accounts to plc published standards.Ensuring audit queries are responded on a timely basis.Preparation of subsidiary accounts under FRS 102 using SAPA (an IXBRL compliant accounts package).Providing assistance with preparation of annual budget/business plans for the Group.Liaising with the ledger and property teams to ensure financial records are accurate, up to date and reflect agreed accounting treatments.Monitor distributable reserves; including recoverability of intercompany receivables, impairment of investments and payment of dividends up the Group.Keeping track of tax base costs of Group properties.Providing support for the Group Tax Accountant.Ongoing review of dormant entities for strike off.Other ad hoc tasks as requested. The Person will ideally be ACA/ACCA qualified with a deep understanding of the technical aspects of accounting - including how consolidations are prepared. Real Estate experience would be of particular interest as is strong Excel and SUN accounting experience. You will be an effective communicator (both verbal and written) with excellent people skills and be able to work in a team.
