VAT Specialist

The main purpose of the role is to undertake regular and ad hoc tasks to support the Head of Group Tax and Group Tax Manager in the application of St. James's Place tax compliance and planning policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities: Ownership of VAT compliance process for SJP Group to include; preparation/review of VAT returns for onward review by Head of Group Tax/Group Tax Manager and submission to HMRCProvide assistance on overseas indirect tax matters particularly in AsiaProvide team cover when required for preparation of various other tax returns including Corporation Tax, PSA & SAO for review by Head of Group Tax/Group Tax ManagerInvolvement in new business/company acquisitions to ensure compliance for VAT and other taxes, once part of SJP GroupInvolvement into Due Diligence process where requiredTo be the key contact for stakeholders across the business to raise VAT queriesThird party/Inter Group payment authorisations (split duty across Finance Teams)Deliver support to Head of Group Tax and Group Tax Manager on projects and activities as required Required Skills: An ability to work unsupervised on regular and ad hoc tasks and to present well thought out work to Head of Group Tax for reviewA willingness and ability to keep up to date with changing tax legislation and practice and to consider the application to the SJP Group Required Technical Knowledge: Essential: Hold an accounting qualification in either CTA (Chartered Tax Advisor), ACCA (Certified Accountant) or ACA (Chartered Accountant)Experience of VAT Desirable: Experience working in the Financial Services IndustryExperience of Employee Tax and Corporation Tax How we Reward You In addition to an attractive salary you will also receive a number of excellent benefits including a non-contributory pension, private medical insurance, life assurance, a share incentive plan, bonus sacrifice arrangements to name but a few.
