Assistant Accountant
Purpose of Role:
The Assistant Accountant role is to support the Financial Reporting team dealing with mortgage accounting for a number of legal entities, cashbooks and other ad-hoc tasks to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Key Accountabilities for Assistant Accountant role:
- Responsible for the book keeping for a number of the Group's entities - ensuring accurate accounting, and complete reconciliation packs for each entity on a monthly basis
- Processing cashbook entries, reconciling bank data to Finance system for all entities under their responsibility-
- Processing monthly journals (including accruals & prepayments) and account reconciliations ensure accuracy and timeliness in completion for all entities under their responsibility
- Providing back up support for mortgage accounting on an ad hoc basis as required
- Preparation of quarterly balance sheets and P&L for external reporting
- Work effectively at team level to support the team so that it meets its objectives and goals on a day today basis
- Maintain a culture of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) within own area of business ensuring TCF considerations are taken into account during decision making
- Ensure a good understanding of the company TCF MI Dashboard and participate in regular communications and discussion within the team
- Manage relationships within the organisation as required to deliver specific role accountabilities
- Undertake one-off pieces of work in response to requests from line management
Essential Competencies for Assistant Accountant role:

Essential skills for the Assistant Accountant role:
- AAT or degree qualified, ideally starting to study CIMA/ACCA or wanting to do this
- Basic Accounting knowledge
- PC literate - Excel and Access skills essential
- Ability to work effectively alone or in teams
- Good communication skills - both oral and written.
- Ability to work to dead lines
Remuneration:
The successful candidate can expect a basic salary of £20,000 to £23,000 p/a depending on experience, plus a company benefits package.
