Consolidation accountant opportunity in large ministerial department in Central London which is supported by a number of agencies and public bodies.
Client Details
My client is a large ministerial department in Central London which is supported by a number of agencies and public bodies.
They are looking to plan and invest in 2017 and for this reason a role as come about in the finance team to add value and support this growth.
The purpose of the role convert the Annual Accounts of multiple Arms Length Bodies (ALBs) to a single control framework, and consolidate these bodies into a set of group accounts.
The role will liaise with the Arm's Length Bodies contacts
Description
Responsibilities in this role will include:
- Assist the ALB's with the conversion process where they do not follow the Government Financial Reporting Manual.
- Assist with the validation of the ALB reporting packs to ensure they are completed in a consistent manner in accordance with DCMS reporting guidance and prepare high quality audit files and papers for review by Senior Managers and NAO.
- Collaborate with other team members, and support flexibly all consolidation activities.
- Undertake analysis and reconciliation for key areas of the accounts and collation of the information required for the disclosure notes and annual report
- Preparation of journals for uploads
- Provide high quality technical input and support in relation to the consolidation of ALBs into DCMS annual report and accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of the returns for Whole of Government Accounts (WGA)
- Other ad-hoc tasks as required.
Profile
Person specification
You will be:
- CCAB/ ACA/ ACCA Qualified accountant
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills
- Experience of working in an Assistant Financial Accounting / Reporting role
- Working knowledge of a number of Accounting Standards particularly SORP, IFRS, FReM
- Team player with strong communication skills who is used to operating to consistently high standards.
