Great opportunity for an experienced Governance Accountant to work in the City Centre on a 9 month term!

Job Purpose: To support the Senior Technical Accountant in ensuring that systems of financial discipline, integrity and control are maintained to the highest professional standards expected of a major financial service organisation.

Key responsibilities:

· To ensure that an appropriate environment of financial control and reconciliation is implemented to safeguard integrity of data and company assets, and compliance with month end responsibilities

· Develop and deliver robust reporting ensuring compliance with company policy, legislation and government guidance

· To ensure that appropriate systems and procedures are in place across Finance and the Company to ensure compliance with governance requirements including Managing Public Money

·Champion governance controls, challenging processes and practices to help achieve a high performing Finance function

·Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, capital and technical accounting functions when required

·Support the statutory accounting process

·Identify, develop and implement robust financial systems that support business operations. Systems must support ongoing financial management and provide robust information upon which customers can take informed decisions

·Build strong working relationships across all functions including providing training / guidance in advance of reporting periods

·Coach, advise and challenging thinking to deliver a compliant and professional service that fits operating plans and processes

· Monitor performance against service level agreements and solicit feedback from customers, taking actions appropriate to address issues as they arise

·There may be times when you will also be expected to carry out other reasonable management instructions or requests to suit the business needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

·Preferably, CCAB qualified accountant with post qualification experience, however QBE will also be considered

·Experience evidenced in a similar role, preferably with exposure in both financial services and a public sector environment

·High level of IT literacy. Job holder is expected to be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or equivalent, and have experience of a range of mainstream financial systems and reporting packages. Experience of Oracle systems an advantage

·Experience of engaging with Business on areas of financial specialism, with the ability to lead and influence in area of specialism
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and other UK legislation such as VAT
  • Strong analytical skills allied with the ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively
  • Proven track record of delivering results while under pressure
  • Strong ability to work without supervision
