Assistant Accountant

Client Details My client are a large national financial services business who lead from the front in their niche market sector, based out of Cambridge, with a great reputation for putting clients, customers and employees before profits. They are run very well and have therefore experienced high growth over the last few years. Description The primary purpose of this Assistant Accountant position is to (1) prepare, examine, analyse and interpret accounting records, statements and other financial reports, (2) assist with the analysis of business operations, trends, costs and income to predict future sales and expenses and (3) provide an efficient and effective accounting service to all stakeholders as the business continues to grow and expand into Europe. Preparation of month end journals and KPI informationControl of Balance Sheet Recs/Accruals/PrepaymentsEffective management of invoice processing to ensure timely paymentCompleting daily reportsMaintaining Fixed Asset Register and tracking Capex SpendTracking project savings and exceptional expenditureAd-hoc support to the wider finance team as necessary and as time allows Profile The ideal Assistant Accountant will be: Actively studying towards AAT / ACCA / CIMA and keen to progress quickly if not AAT qualifiedHave a minimum of 2-3 years practical accounting and finance work experience in a similar roleStrong Excel skills to include vlookups and pivot tables ideallyYou will need to be an inquisitive, persistent, personable individualBe able to demonstrate well-developed planning, processing & organising abilities, a high level of attention to detail and the capacity to work to demanding deadlinesHave excellent verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to present in meetings and develop credibility with the management team.Be highly analytical, pro-active and commercial.Be able to demonstrate continuous improvement of the finance function and reporting as the business continues its growth plans.
