Management Accountant

Due to its continued success, Portman Asset Finance is searching for a motivated and driven Management Accountant to work with the businesses Directors providing comprehensive financial information to inform business strategy and help drive business growth. Main duties and responsibilities Preparing financial statements and accountsMonitoring spending and budgetsAnalysing the company's financial performanceForecasting and planning future spending and profitsRecommending ways to reduce costs and increase profitsReporting compliance for VATLiaison with external accountantsInvestigation of variances against budgets - providing analysis of differencesPreparation of budgets and cash flow forecastsProduction of timely and reliable weekly/monthly management information reports, including profit margin data with variance analysisBanking, including management of all payments and receipts, tracking of charges and interest, intercompany account transfersReview and process supplier payments and cheque productionAd hoc duties to meet business demands Skills and personal qualities Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organisational and planning skillsDrive, motivation and initiativeAbility to work under pressure and to meet deadlinesExcellent attention to detailStrong analytical skills and a logical approachAbility to explain financial information clearlyAbility to engage with both finance and non-finance colleaguesExcellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills Desired Experience and Education Proficient in use of accounting softwareNewly-qualified or part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)A minimum of three year's experience in a professional accounting firm or commercial accounting position Our core hours are Monday to Thursday 08:30 - 17:30 and Friday 08:30 - 17:00 however we would be willing to consider flexibility around these times, for the right candidate.
