The Role;

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Accounting & Tax Manager to join a growing Accounting firm based in Mascot. You will be in charge of leading a team 5 and managing a client portfolio of over 450 clients which ranges from Small to Medium sized enterprises & High Net worth Individuals.

Key responsibilities include;

Manage the team to produce the following types of compliance work in a timely manner;

  • Income Tax Returns
  • Company Tax Returns
  • Trust Returns
  • Self-Managed Super Fund
  • Business Activity Statements
  • Fringe Benefits Tax
  • Land Tax
  • Payroll Tax

Thoroughly review and in conjunction with the team produce quality work at partner sign off level whilst using your prior experience to identify risks for the firm and proactively simplify these for the partners attention

Provide Technical Accounting & Tax knowledge including;

  • Structuring and Asset Protection
  • Small Business Concessions
  • Capital Gains Tax
  • Division 7A and UPE
  • Property Development
  • Working with SME's
  • Articulating complex legislation in a simple manner for clients

Develop and reform the existing training programs

You must possess the following skill set;

  • CA / CPA Qualified or equivalent is essential and a Master of Tax would be advantageous
  • At least 10 years spent working within a Business Services firm with exposure to large client base
  • At least 5 Years spent within one Accounting firm including at least 3 of these years as a manager of at least 3 direct reports.
  • Excellent understanding of Australian accounting principles and standards
  • Strong Australian Tax knowledge and proven experience of running a lodgement programme multiple times within the same business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage a large client portfolio whilst working hand in hand with the practice manager who assists in administering the lodgement program
  • Strong work ethic with excellent prioritization skills and proven experience delivering during busy reporting periods
  • Ability to streamline current processes, find new ways of doing things better and think outside the box
  • Hands on approach to work and a passion for developing and mentoring existing accounting staff whilst establishing team / individual KPI's.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, with both senior and junior stakeholders and also autonomously
