Accounts Assistant position acvailable in small, busy team working for exciting, expanding, well-known leisure business based on the outskirts of Cheltenham, with operations across Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds.

My client are a fast growing, ever-changing hospitality and leisure business headquartered in Cheltenham. They offer a small, friendly, busy finance team, a well-located, luxury office with free on-site parking, a role with broad scope, and varied opportunities for progression and development as the business grows.

Description

This Accounts Assistant role is designed to offer support to four other members of the finance team, including the Finance Manager and Head of Finance. This will include exciting opportunities to be involved in ad-hoc projects and system and process improvement.

Day-to-day responsibilities for the Accounts Assistant will include:

  • Purchase ledger - daily management of procurement system used on sites, monitoring invoice inbox and processing as and when required.
  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Supplier reconciliations
  • Assisting with income recognition and reconciliation processes.
  • Covering other members of the finance team as and when required.

Profile

We see the successful candidate for the Accounts Assistant position being either a junior AAT studier with limited experience but who has sound financial knowledge and the ability to learn quickly on the job, and the desire to develop and progress, OR a more experienced candidate who is well-versed in (and enjoys) transactional processing, who will be able to lend considerable expertise to this role and really hit the ground running.

Regardless of your profile the Accounts Assistant will need:

  • Great organisational skills
  • Solid IT skills (Excel)
  • A can-do atitude and a solid work ethic
  • To be a quick learner
  • To be comfortable in a small business environment
  • To be happy with more menial tasks, e.g. data entry, when required.
  • Some theoretical understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
  • Some experience of purchase ledger.

Job Offer

This role is looking to pay £18-22k, although slightly more may be offered for someone with great experience.

Study support for AAT will be considered for the right person.
