Our Corporate Finance team advises entrepreneurs, management teams, private equity firms, corporates and PLCs to achieve their strategic capital objectives through acquisitions, disposals and fund raisings.

Areas of work include:
  • Mergers & Acquisitions
  • Management of buy-outs / buy-ins
  • Capital raising
  • Strategic, commercial and financial restructuring

EY's Corporate Finance practice in the Midlands region is well established, with a dedicated team working across a spectrum of clients, with particular strength in transport, logistics, aerospace and industrials sectors. The team boasts a strong track record, having worked on a range of high profile corporate and private equity transactions, often in collaboration with multiple service lines and geographies of the firm. Following a period of growth and success in the region, there is now scope to further develop and grow this practice area in Birmingham the wider Midlands region.

The opportunity

To continue building on the success of our existing Corporate Finance team in the Midlands, there is an opportunity for an experienced corporate financier to join this high performing team, playing a key role in the ongoing growth and success of the team in this market.

Your key responsibilities

  • Drive revenue growth, target client origination and existing client diversification and all associated business development activities to expand EY's market share
  • Responsibility for execution of transactions across the client portfolio
  • Develop and manage executive level/ C-suite client relationships to drive business-winning opportunities across the Midlands region and beyond
  • Contribute fully to all aspects of Practice development including; internal and external recruitment at all levels, developing coaching and managing team members to elevate performance levels across the team, client account management, solutions and capability enhancement, and driving a culture of operational excellence and quality in client service
  • Leverage EY's existing client relationships in other service lines/ regions globally to increase share-of-wallet and to strengthen the EY brand across the marketplace
  • Drive innovation to ensure provision of market leading, relevant and highly-targeted solutions and content-rich thought leadership to clients
  • Contribute to delivery of wider strategic objectives across Transactions, as well as supporting and participating in initiatives for growth of the firm as a whole

Skills and attributes for success

A successful candidate will reflect our passion for the growth of our footprint in corporate finance in the region and of our wider business. The selected individual will demonstrate strong experience and network in the region, and will have a proven track record in corporate finance origination and execution. Team-building acumen and experience will be vital, both to support the existing team and future new joiners as the offering continues to grow in support of this crucial senior appointment.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Demonstrable track record of originating and executing corporate finance transactions - especially mergers and acquisitions - within a recognised/ leading advisory firm or banking institution
  • Proven leader, manager and motivator of people and recent, relevant experience of practice development
  • Established knowledge of and network in the Midlands region, or a strong connection to the Midlands and desire to return
  • Significant track record of successfully pitching for business, identifying and anticipating commercial opportunities and converting networking activity into delivery of revenue

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Strong transaction track record in M&A, ideally from a varied client set in the Midlands
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to navigate successfully across complex, geographically and commercial diverse operations
