India's indirect tax reform, through the introduction of GST, has created the need to develop a dedicated team to handle JP Morgan's Indian indirect tax compliance. The introduction of GST will rapidly change the way JP Morgan tracks, calculates and reports its indirect tax obligations. This role will be one of the first hires of the new team and will be responsible for undertaking the day to day operations within the team, ensuring tax compliance obligations are met, control procedures are documented and adhered to and internal stakeholders are regularly communicated with. Initially the role will focus on assisting the team manager (Associate) with the setting up the team and its processes to be ready for the implementation of GST (expected 1July 2017) then shift to the day to day operations of the indirect tax compliance. Undertake JP Morgan's indirect tax compliance in India, including the calculation of tax, reconciliation of data, financial accounting entries, monitoring of tax positions at a transaction level, preparation of returns and the filing of returns. Support the team lead to establish and build the new team Work to strict and tight deadlines on a monthly basis. Establish and maintain an effective communication and engagement model with key contacts within various parts of JP Morgan including Tax, Finance, the Lines of Business stakeholders. Assist with interactions outside of JP Morgan, chiefly with the various tax authorities in India. Register JP Morgan's entities in India for GST. Apply for any GST refunds including preparing documents and invoices to support these applications. Assist with the development of new processes and ensure they are clearly documented, communicated, and delivered against success criteria. Ensure issues are raised / escalated and driven through to resolution. Ensure risks & dependencies are highlighted, with mitigation options presented. Work with technology and tax teams to ensure the smooth implementation of the firm's new software, including UAT, which will compliment manual compliance activities. Coordinate sign off's / approvals. Qualifications Strong analytical skills, logical thinker with strong attention to detail Excellent written skills with clear, concise & logical documentation. Knowledge of tax and regulatory reporting rules preferred Knowledge of financial markets and banking Advanced Excel and /or Access skills with ability to work with, and use, large amounts of data in organized and effective manner.
