We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Head of Financial Reporting - UK.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the production and review all GRCA reports for Profit and Loss (P&L), actual and average balance sheet, Inter-company, Off Balance sheet financial accounting information for HSBC UK
  • Review and report the necessary financial accounting information together with detailed business based commentary to facilitate the production of the monthly P&L analysis
  • Lead the assessment of and conclude on specific technical areas of financial reporting, including Pension accounting, Impairment Sign offs, IFRS2, Red inking etc.
  • Conduct and an In-depth analytical review to ensure any material movements are explained and queried with the relevant business areas resolved
  • Handle, understand and contribute to system changes and other transformation projects (like Ring fencing, FTP, Big data, Saracen 18) and their impact on the existing IFRS reporting processes
  • Monitor the transition to regular line finance reporting for all significant changes to International Financial Reporting Standards

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the accounting for the full range of banking and treasury products
  • Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Qualified accountant
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implication

The base location for this role is Birmingham.

We are required by the Financial Services (Banking Reform) Act 2013 to create a ring-fenced bank in the UK by 1 January 2019. Entirely new from the ground up, HSBC UK's head office is opening in Birmingham. The location of this role will move to our new state of the art offices at 2 Arena Central during 2018.
