We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Specialist.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with the SOX Manager to ensure that Sarbanes Oxley certification is completed in accordance with the Group Standards Manual, Operational Risk Framework Target Operating Model and the relevant Functional Instruction Manuals (FIMs) across HBEU
  • Ensure that all SOX End User Computing applications are identified and controls in place are in line with FIM requirements. Work closely with Business Information Risk Officer (BIRO).
  • Maintain regular communication with functions, business (Risk, Global Finance Centre (GFC), and Finance, Internal Audit (INA), other) to identify any potential issue that could lead to a SOX deficiency. Ensure all deficiencies are recorded in ORION on a timely basis. Perform deficiency aggregation as per Group instructions. Follow up on issues and deficiencies previously raised and make sure they are closed in time and that actions are maintained.
  • Work with the IT SOX Coordinator to maintain an accurate IT General Control, IT application, IT Dependent controls inventory. Ensure that all in scope ITGC, ITAC, ITDC are listed completely and accurately in the relevant SOX documentation.
  • Perform SOX scoping in accordance with Finance Functional Instruction Manual (FIM) requirements and as per Group instructions.
  • Ensure SOX documentation of all SOX in scope processes is validated, up to date and COSO compliant.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Relevant product knowledge of Financial services industry
  • Experience working in relevant environments, i.e. Strong Finance background, with experience of audit and Sarbanes Oxley legislation.
  • Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Professional accountancy qualification Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA), Competition & Markets Authority (CMA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Mater of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent experience
  • A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
