Description

Main Duties

• Review monthly cost reports making adjustments as required / follow up where further explanations are required.

• Review / prepare / assist with month end journals to be posted into SAP to ensure accurate reporting of project spend.

• Produce / review monthly management reports and commentary outlining variance to forecasts for capital spend by programme.

• Maintain accurate schedule of risks & opportunities for inclusion

• Prepare month end reports that clearly show the operational and financial performance of capital programmes.

• Variance analysis and explanation

• Provide financial support as necessary and relevant, and be the first point of finance contact to the project managers

• Review and challenge project cost plans to ensure actual data is accurate and forecasts are realistic. Where variances to plan exist, investigate further and be able to explain all differences

• Provide support in the creation of capital business cases (and overhead ones where relevant), ensuring that the financial elements are soundly based and realistic

• Support in the close out of capital projects, assisting the production of the project analysis sheet and ensuring all purchase orders are closed out in a timely manner

• Apply commercial/operational understanding to investigate any unusual patterns of spend against approvals, expected project durations, further spend etc. with the view to ensuring capitalisations are correct.
