Competitive business today is all about making intelligent, informed decisions. As a Healthcare Analytics Executive, you'll help make that happen. That will mean using your technical knowledge and client facing experience and working with our Managers and Assistant Directors to help clients from all industries and make strategic and operational decisions about their businesses. Working on everything from actively being involved in an assignment to working directly with clients as well as other EY specialist teams, you'll work some of the most high profile clients - all with the support of some of the top colleagues in the business.

The opportunity
Sitting within the global Valuation Modelling and Economics (VME) network of over 1,550 specialists, delivering high-quality advice through each phase of the transaction process: from pre-transaction strategic evaluations all the way through to the post-transaction consolidation. With our support you'll work with a range of health providers, commissioners, regulators and central government. We're currently growing our Healthcare Analytics team to meet increasing demand. As part of the team, you can expect exposure to a range of client types and needs. Our projects typically involve managing multiple stakeholders and require you to make the best decisions for our clients using your analytical technique and excellent data handling skills. Typically you'll be involved in constructing and utilising purpose built analytical tools or models to derive insight through forecasting, calculations, visualisations and simulations in a fast moving environment,

Your key responsibilities
You're likely to balance your day by working to support clients by advising them on the benefits of data analysis as well as working with the wider team on managing client expectations in relation to deliverables and identifying risk on the assignment. You'll design and build complex analytical models to perform analysis on a variety of large health datasets. Identifying risk is important too; by working closely with Directors and Partners to ensure its resolved appropriately. You'll also be a ctively involved throughout an assignment using prior technical knowledge in the following areas - requirements definition, specification, data collection as well as model and analysis design, documentation, implementation and user training

Skills and attributes for success
  • A passion for designing and building complex analytical models to perform analysis on a variety of large health datasets
  • Being able to manage clients' expectations in relation to deliverables
  • Identifying risk on the assignment, involving Directors and Partners appropriately in its resolution
  • Building relationships with colleagues across the business, supporting them and promoting a collaborative culture
  • Being actively involved throughout the life-cycle of an assignment

To qualify for the role you must have
  • A strong academic background, e.g. Degree or equivalent in a numerate or analytical subject
  • Direct relevant experience of working within or providing specialist modelling/analytical support to health informatics/finance teams or developing analysis which underpins strategic healthcare provision
  • Strong experience in MS Excel, plus at least one SQL dialect (e.g. SQL Server, Python, R, MS Access, Postgresql, Oracle, PLSQL or MYSQL)
  • Highly numerate, with a good understanding of dashboard design and experience communicating the result with visualisation techniques
  • Previous evidence of working with clients and model users to identify their particular needs, and evidence of problem-solving previous client problems
Ideally, you'll also have
  • Experience in working with a range of healthcare datasets including HES, theatre data, RTT Data or HSCIC datasets
  • Experience of analytics packages including Programming in R or Python and visualisation packages including Tableau, Qlikview, Power BI or Spotfire
  • Some experience in coaching more junior staff to maximise performance
