Manager, Policy & Assurance - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

The Role:

Based in Sydney's CBD this role is responsible for the technical interpretation and application of accounting standards, matters and functions. You will be assisting the senior management, Group Finance and project teams across the AUSPAC finance region with the interpretation and application of accounting standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical accounting interpretation and application
• Active contribution towards development of Finance plans, policies and procedures
• The ability to constantly be aware of the Financial Strategies
• Support the AUSPAC business/finance initiatives and projects
• Early identification, escalation and improvement to heightened financial control risk areas
• Performing ad hoc reviews or investigations as required
• Oversee the delivery of the internal controls assurance programs
• Influencing the behaviours of Finance employees specifically in relation to controls in alignment with the culture set out by the Finance Leadership team

Key Requirements:

• CA/CPA Qualified
• Good commercial acumen and a strong understanding of the Insurance industry
• A strong understanding of audit and control principles
• A strong understanding of systems and accounting principles and standards
• The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
• A very strong understanding of AASB
• Very strong written communication
• Attention to detail and the ability to be 'hands on'
• Strong interpersonal skills - the ability to communicate with all levels of the business
• Big 4 experience in the Insurance industry is very highly desired
