To accurately and efficiently process data to Sales, Purchase and Cash ledgers, providing core data for Management Reporting and reconciliations.

Client Details

Our client is a growing business looking to add an Accounts Assistant to their Accountancy team based in Guildford.

Description

  • Responsibility for all data processing to the sales, purchase and cash ledgers. To ensure adequate information is included on postings, particularly cashbook, to include dates, amounts, description etc.
  • Preparation of BACS runs at the end of each month.

  • To maintain up to date payment details for suppliers and liaise with suppliers where necessary.
  • To update supplier accounts for payments & send out remittance advices promptly and ensure invoices and payments correctly allocated to each other so outstanding invoices are easily visible at any time. Resolve all queries by each month end to enable timely closing of ledgers to feed into management reports, VAT returns, P11ds etc.
  • Management of supplier accounts including reconciliation of supplier accounts to statements, and prompt follow-up with suppliers if any invoices are missing / queried.
  • Preparation of bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy of data in the system. To liaise with staff to ensure sufficient expense support is provided to allow for full VAT reclaim.
  • Filing all documents sensibly and in a timely fashion. Daily filing where possible.
  • Maintain Petty Cash records and reconcile weekly.
  • Maintain detailed fixed asset register and ensure all assets are labelled.

Profile

  • You must be able to work and communicate clearly with non-finance based colleagues.
  • The role is very hands-on and it is essential that you are able to plan and a structure your own work and work with your colleagues to meet the various monthly and quarterly internal and external deadlines.
  • A formal accountancy qualification such as AAT is preferable but we will also consider applicants qualified by (relevant) experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel is essential.
