They are currently looking for a Financial Controller who can take responsibility for their busy finance team and be the leader of a group of financial administrators.

As the Financial Controller, you will support and, in the absence of the Head of, take responsibility for the Finance department with regard to the day to day administration of the accounting function and its controls, which has income in excess of £17m.

What you will be doing:
• Be primarily responsible for the Financial Control activities necessary for the successful running of the organisation
• Supervise the Finance team on a day to day basis, coordinating workload as required
• Sign off the work of junior staff members where necessary to ensure information that leaves the organisation is accurate and complies with GDPR
• Take responsibility for the department in the absence of the Head of Finance
• Liaise with other departments and project teams to implement and test new systems and procedures
• Be Involved in the recruitment and training of the department's staff
• Carry out a range of duties as required in the fulfilment of the Finance department objectives
• Report monthly figures and statistics on primary functions to the Head of Finance
• Deal with banks and other financial institutions
• Liaise with the Management Team, Team Leaders / Supervisors to ensure best practice is adhered to whilst undertaking interdepartmental tasks
• Ad hoc reporting to the Head of Finance as requested
• Maintain accurate posting of Member transactions on the Society's database and accounts systems
• Audit and understand data; be the expert when queries are escalated
• Look at the primary functions of the role with a view to developing and improving them to increase the overall efficiency of the organisation
• Understand the transactional processes undertaken by the department to ensure functions are carried out in an appropriate and timely manner
• Write and maintain procedure documents in connection with the primary functions of the department
• Carry out any reasonable tasks as requested by the Head of Finance or a member of the Leadership Team
• Understand the commercial implications of the Finance function and the drivers within the protection industry as a whole

Yours skills will include
• Newly qualified or part qualified in ACCA/ACA/CIMA
• Experience of a Financial Control function
• Experience of working in a supervisory capacity within a team
• Experience of Change Management in terms of introducing new processes but also managing people experiencing change
• Understand a deadline driven environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word and Excel
• Ability to build strong working relationships
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to motivate a team to achieve results
