Page Personnel is working in partnership with an international business based in Liverpool to help recruit an Assistant Project Accountant role to support the accountancy function.

As Assistant Project Accountant, you will support the project accounting function, controls and reports across the business. Your key duties include:

  • Managing the project costing system and coding within Sage, implementing new control procedures to manage cost allocation and cost reporting
  • Assisting with pricing, review of 'as sold model', margins and review/assist on the understanding of the cash flow
  • Involvement in the development of financial performance against the expected profitability and proactively identify risks and issues for communication to Project Accountants
  • Liaise with Project Managers and commercial partners in analysing and interpreting variances between planned and unplanned income and expenditure
  • Assist with monthly flash figures for sales and forecasted profitability
  • Ensure revenue is invoiced in a timely manner in accordance with contractual and project milestones
  • Create and review monthly calculations of accrued income and cost accruals in relation to project delivery and performance
  • Involvement in the preparation of quarterly forecasts/budgets to include revenue, profit and cash flow targets with Project Managers and Division Directors
  • Report to management on any opportunities for additional billings, liaise with Project Managers to ensure all relevant project expenses are billed to the client
  • Escalate and obtain approval for any project billings that cannot be billed or collected from customers
  • Assist with compilation of relevant information for internal/external auditors


The successful applicant for the Assistant Project Accountant role must have the following skills and experience:

  • AAT Qualified or early stages studier
  • Confident personality
  • Ability to work in a changing and flexible organisation
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Great attention to detail
  • Strong team player with a willingness to assist and learn from colleagues
  • Well organised, motivated and eager to learn
  • Strong IT skills
  • Proficient user in Excel
  • Be able to prioritise work and ability to manage time in order to meet deadlines
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative
