The Employer: Our client is a charity providing services to its clients and their families on a national level. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Financial Controller / Finance Director, will be a member of the senior management team and will contribute to the overall success of the organisation by effectively managing all financial tasks and leading on governance and compliance issues for the organisation, as well as contributing to the overall management of the organisation. The Financial Controller / Finance Director will be required to establish organisational priorities at a strategic level and provide a results-focused input into the organisation. The role also includes the day to day management of the Finance and IT teams and ensuring they are adequately resourced and effective. Main Role Responsibilities: Financial accounting, reporting, budgeting and treasury Develop and maintain robust systems to ensure monthly accounts are produced in a timely and accurate manner. Financial forecasting to ensure the effective and smooth running of the organisation. Develop and maintain financial accounting and control systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, payroll and petty cash. Management of the annual audit process. Manage and be responsible for the annual budget preparation and strategic financial planning. Provide financial support and controls for the commercial functions of the organisation including assisting in the preparation of business cases. Strategic reporting and analysis on where and how resources are spent. Systems of Internal Control Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures. Continually review, assess and update the organisation's financial procedures manual and ensure compliance with these procedures. Develop and manage an internal audit programme for the organisation. Risk Management & Legal Oversight Be the lead monitor of potential risks affecting the organisation and ensure appropriate management policies and procedures are in place to mitigate risks. Develop & maintain a robust business continuity plan for the organisation. Ensure the organisation has appropriate insurance coverage in place and be the lead person for dealing with legal issues. Statutory and Regulatory Compliance Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including Charitable Status, tax returns and payments and pension obligations. Prepare all annual charitable returns for the Charities Regulatory and ensure compliance with the Charities Governance Code. Act as Company Secretary. Management of the Information Technology Function Manage the organisation's IT function. Advise on and evaluate the need for new technology to meet the organisation's financial data processing, control, and reporting requirements. Staff Management for the Finance Function Ensure excellence in recruitment, training and performance management and development for the staff in the Finance and IT Teams. Person Specification / Core Competencies: University degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Management/Administration. Professional Accountancy Qualification - ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA 3 to 5 years post qualification experience. Experience of the preparation of management accounts to completion. Ability to work on own initiative. Possess the ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels. Team work abilities and attention to detail are a must. Strong IT skills required. Location This role is predominately based in the Organisation's head office in Dublin city centre.
