Job Description
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is a state Authority created under an Act of Parliament No.35 of 2011, with the mandate of holding the police accountable to the public in the performance of their functions.
1. IPOA/HR/15/2019; ACCOUNTANT, IPOA JOB GRADE 6 (1 POSITION)- (CONSOLIDATED SALARY KES.90,000 - 130,000)
Reports to the Senior Accountant.
Job Description
i. Reviewing payment vouchers and reconciling creditors accounts to ensure accuracy;
ii. Verifying monthly, quarterly and annual trial balances;
iii. Making timely statutory payments and filing of their returns;
iv. Compiling Treasury and Revenue reports as required;
v. Organizing for withdrawal of cash for office use and ensuring safety of the same at all times;
vi. Maintaining asset register and other capital expenditures;
vii. Maintaining the vote book;
viii. Analyzing bank reconciliations on monthly basis to ensure correctness; and
ix. Reviewing all accounts entries and verifying receipts and invoices
Profile:
· Must be a citizen of Kenya.
· Meets the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Job Specifications
· Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines:- Commerce, Business Administration/Management, (Accounting/finance option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
· Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Part II or its approved equivalent.
· Certificate in computer application skills.
· Served in the grade of Finance Assistant/Accounts Assistant for three (3) years;
Required behavioural skills:
· A candidate must be a person of integrity, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player;
· Demonstrate high ethical standards;

i. Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
ii. Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC);
iii. Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
iv. Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI); and
