One of the UK's largest independent players in its field, my client is looking for a Project Accountant, to join the company that is well known and established in Cambridge and Nationally.
Description
Reporting to Finance Manager, the Project Accountant's role is as follows :
- Provide financial advice and support to the project team helping to maximise project performance
- Analyse contract costs, reporting progress and estimating costs to complete.
- Input to monthly reviews with the Project and Business managers.
- Assisting in the improvement of reporting of project and financial information.
- Assist in the performance reporting of manufacturing areas of the business.
- Complete relevant balance sheet reconciliations for allocated projects whilst driving continuous improvement in month end reporting disciplines.
- Awareness and active management of project financial and foreign exchange risk.
- Promote and operate a comprehensive control environment.
- Provide information for use in company estimating, planning and budgeting processes.
Profile
The successful Project accountant will be able to challenge the non-finance aspects of the business in order to promote the change they plan for the future. The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong technical ability and post qualification experience, preferably with proven experience in the area of long term contract accounting;
- Desire to drive continuous improvement into existing processes;
- Analysing and presenting complex problems in the absence of perfect information;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, clear and concise thought processes and the ability to lead others to a conclusion;
- Preparation of high quality financial analysis and reports for key internal stakeholders;
- Self motivation and proactive approach to work, as this role requires a high degree of autonomy and independent thought to identify and creatively solve problems;
- Working and engaging with non-finance personal and managing differing interests;
- A thorough understanding of foreign exchange currency exposure management and risk mitigation; and experience with staff supervision and providing mentoring in specialist areas.
