Capital Project Accountant Business Office TennesseeTech University Job Type: Full–Time Department: Business Office Job Purpose: Manage the fiscal responsibilities of capital projects, including new construction, remodeling and/or renovation, and maintenance projects funded by state or university resources. This position coordinates these efforts between the offices of General Accounting, Capital Projects, and Budget and Planning. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in Accounting or related field. Four years of full–time experience in a progressively responsible accounting position. Master's degree in Accounting or Business OR CPA license and two years accounting experience may be considered in lieu of four years accounting work experience. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Ability to interpret Tennessee Tech University policies and procedures, as well as Tennessee Board of Regents and state and federal rules and regulations. Proficient in software such as Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Access. Ability to solve practical problems and analyze complex financial and procedural issues in a timely manner, establish and maintain effective working relations with diverse constituencies, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and effectively communicate ideas clearly, exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions, and establish priorities to meet objectives. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited institution in Business or Accounting. CPA. Prior experience in higher education capital accounting. Prior experience in accounting with large construction projects. Experience in bond and debt service scheduling and amortization. Experience with BANNER finance system, database systems (Microsoft Access, Argos, etc.), and procurement management system. Work Hours: Typical hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed. Compensation and Benefits Salary: Commensurate with education and experience; Administrative Pay Grade AD47. Starting salary range is $57,809–$69,371. Benefits Information: The University offers a competitive benefits package. Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits.
