The Accounts Payable Specialist Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for all aspects related to Accounts Payable to include ensuring that all invoices are accurately and timely processed for payment and also ensuring adherence to Accounts Payable best practices.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Invoice Review and General Ledger Coding
  • Check Processing and Distribution
Critical and Essential Tasks
  • Ensure invoices are coded, approved, input and paid in an accurate and timely manner
  • Facilitate purchase order process
  • Troubleshoot and resolve vendor invoice issues.
  • Responsible for Accounts Payable related accruals and reconciliations
  • Prepare and distribute ad–hoc reports
  • Assist with month–end and year–end closings to include issuance of 1099 forms
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned

3+ years of related experience


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or a related field

Job–Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory and audit
  • Accounts Payable experience
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
  • Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results
  • Good customer service and organizational skills
  • Good problem–solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the accounts payable cycle
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and accuracy; and time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise software (preferably PeopleSoft) and various software packages such as Microsoft Office with proficiency in EXCEL
Service Orientation

This is a major area of importance. Customer Service is one of the primary responsibilities of this position and will be utilized over 80% of the time. People who are successful in this position will be eager to help, committed to doing things right and always focused on the customer's wants and needs.


Leadership skills are of moderate importance. An emphasis on inter–personal relationships and "results orientation" will ensure success in this position.

Analytical Skills

The person in this position will need to have keen analytical skills that will allow him/her to look at data and identify discrepancies and irregularities and determine the best solution to correcting the situation.


In order to be effective in this position, the Team Member must be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines to better handle day–to–day and special situations.
